MAKE A PIZZA PLAN We've already set the goal to have a happier home, right? Now, let's make a plan. Accomplishing this goal is like eating a pizza. You shouldn't shove an entire large pizza into your mouth, and you shouldn't overwhelm yourself by trying to make multiple changes in your home simultaneously. We are going to slice our original goal into manageable steps that equal the whole pie. In addition, for every slice from your pizza, I will identify 5 tasks that people commonly procrastinate. We'll call them "bites." Slice by slice, we can accomplish our goal within as little as a week, bites and all!
2.
CHOOSE YOUR SAUCE The foundation for great pizza is the sauce. What in your life is the foundation of your home? Is it family, art, love, a relationship, your pet? Maybe it's your job. Well, I've got some news for you. It's actually you! All of those things happen to you and you happen to them, so it's easy to lose track of what you want your style to say or how you want your home to make you feel. Do you want to feel inspired, loved, appreciated, motivated, or empowered to accomplish more in your life and home? Okay, then step outside your comfort zone. This is the part where you let go a little and ask for joint participation.
3.
TAKE CONTROL OF THE CHEESE Even the Ninja Turtles know that pizza can get messy. Without quantity control, the best pizza can turn into a total fail. Why? Say it with me...moderation. Who wants to eat pizza with a fork? NO ONE. It's un-American! You don't want pizza with too much sauce or a pizza with too little sauce under too many toppings. That's just not right. Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. It's the same with your home. You begin to forget what's under that giant pile of cheese if there's too much of it. What happened to your mushrooms, your bell peppers, and... my god, the onions? Hunting through all your stuff will always take up time, take up space, and cause you stress.
4.
MAKE SPACE FOR YOUR FAVORITE TOPPINGS Coming home should always feel great and rejuvenating so let's make a space in which you can do the things that add flavor to your life. When I want to relax, I do something I enjoy. What are some things that you enjoy doing? Making a space for doing the thing that you enjoy most will definitely invite more happiness into your home. Do you want a spa corner? What about a reading nook? Do you love to cook? Maybe gardening is your thing. I'll give examples of ways to take even the smallest space on the wall to make it do more for you because even though life gets away from you, YOUR happier home doesn't have to.
5.
BAKE IT 'TIL YOU MAKE IT Hey, it's our first time following a pizza therapy plan to create a happier home, and we're not expert pizza chefs, right? So it's no surprise that we burnt the crust in some places. How? Currently, in our home, there are things out that maybe leave a bad taste in our mouth. Do those things remind you of past relationships, losing a friend, or an old job? If so, I call these things "really burnt crust". Just like you don't want to eat the really burnt crust on a pizza, you really don't want to constantly be reminded of the things that you can't change. It's time to let them go.
6.
LET IT BREATHE Much like a wine, pizza is impossible to enjoy if it's too hot, so if you get overwhelmed...just set it down so it can cool off---more specifically so YOU can.
#1 Make a pizza. I'll send you a link for a variety of pizzas to choose from.
#2 Watch an episode of your favorite show.
#3 Write 7 year old you a letter. (It's been a while, right?)
#4 Call someone in the family you haven't talked to in a while.
#5 Choose a picture from your phone to put on your wall by your front door to greet you.
7.
SAVE IT FOR LATER Let's create something to remind yourself you can set and accomplish future goals by slicing them up and making them more manageable. Ultimately, I hope my plan will help empower you to create the changes you want to see in your life and in your happier home because honestly, you deserve it.
