Creative Chaos During the Pandemic: Delicious Therapy For Anyone To Try

Pizza Therapy: A Playful Guide To A Happier Home

🍕 Pizza Therapy: A Playful Guide to a Happier Home😋

Born during the chaos of the pandemic, Pizza Therapy started as a fun, metaphor-driven way to break down overwhelming home organization into bite-sized, manageable steps. I took a simple idea—cleaning and decorating—and turned it into an interactive, lighthearted process that makes home improvement feel less like a chore and more like a creative experience.

But Pizza Therapy wasn’t just an idea that came out of nowhere—it was a process I organically developed over years of navigating my own internal and external chaos.

I often found myself letting things pile up until they became dysfunctionalboth physically in my space and mentally in my life. When the weight of it all became too much, I'd tackle massive projects to restore order, throwing myself into the work until I was completely drained. And what came next? Pizza! Every time. The exhaustion from reclaiming my space left me with zero energy to cook—so I'd order a pizza, sit back, and breathe. It became a ritual, a moment to acknowledge the effort, recover, and reset. (For anyone who wants to know, I'd order 2 mediums (for extra leftovers) or a single large pizza with a base of garlic parmesan sauce and I'd top it with pepperoni, onions, and mushrooms plus a dessert when I was feeling greedy.)

Then the pandemic hit. Suddenly, the whole world was overwhelmed, stuck at home, and facing the same struggle. That’s when I realized—maybe this wasn’t just my process. Maybe others needed Pizza Therapy too.

My love of pizza of pizza as comfort started at a young age, sitting in front of the TV watching the Ninja Turtles scarf down slices like it was their life force.  Something about it stuck. Those turtles weren’t in a rush—they moved through life at their own pace, fighting their battles, taking their breaks, and always coming back to pizza. It became clear as I got older: we’re all turtles sometimes. Just going through the motions, letting things pile up in the background of our minds—things we should address before they become overwhelming and cause bigger problems.

And like the Ninja Turtles, we all have our own way of living. Regardless of gender or societal expectations, people are constantly pressured into thinking their home (and their life) should look a certain way. But the truth? What matters most is creating a space you actually want to be in and living your life YOUR way. Because when your home is happier, you are too.

Much like making a pizza, creating a happier home is all about choosing the right ingredients, balancing what you love, and making space for joy. Through 7 slices (or steps) and small, actionable “bites”, Pizza Therapy helps people rethink their space, clear out mental and physical clutter, and design a home that truly reflects their personality.

Breaks down home organization into digestible, stress-free steps. Blends humor, motivation, and psychology into a practical approach. Encourages self-expression by making home design feel personal and fun.

Whether it’s choosing your “sauce” (what makes your home feel like you), clearing out the “burnt crust” (the things holding you back), or adding your favorite toppings (what brings you joy), this method is about more than just cleaning—it’s about creating a space where you actually want to be.

I designed Pizza Therapy not just as a guide, but as a movement for intentional living.  By approaching home organization with humor and creativity, I hope to help others turn their homes into happier, more fulfilling spaces—one slice at a time.

And hey—I'm no stranger to eating my feelings (ie dunking my pizza crust into little containers of liquid gold garlic sauce), but just like anything else, in moderation, it’s a more digestible task.
